Hiring Prerequisites

All applicants Must

  • Have a current Class A Commercial Drivers License
  • Fully complete the company application in their own handwriting
  • Must be 23 years of age
  • Have a working knowledge of basic safety regulations and requirements
  • Successfully pass the company road test
  • Successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen
  • Successfully pass a U.S. Department of Transportation physical

All applicants Must Not

  • Have a DUI or DWI in the past five (5) years
  • Have more than two (2) moving violations within the last three (3) years*
  • Have any major preventable accidents in the last three (3) years
  • Have a D.O.T. suspension or a reckless driving charge in the last three (3) years
  • Have accumulated six (6) or more points in the past three (3) years
  • Have been convicted of a Felony
  • A "Trainee" must have a clean MVR for the past Three (3) to Five (5) years

Driver Compensation and Benefits

Basic Compensation

  • Solo Driver - 23% for the first (1st) year of service 24 % after the first (1st) year of service 25% after the second (2nd) year of service
  • Team Driver - 13% for the first (1st) year of service 13˝% after the first (1st) year of service 14% after the second (2nd) year of service
  • Detention Pay - Compensation Pay for on-time deliveries held over.
  • Surcharge Pay - Percentage for entering heavily congested areas i.e. NY
  • Stop Off Pay - Percentage after first stop and Unloading pay
  • Weekly pay - $1200+ a week average based on 2500 - 3000 miles per week
  • Assigned Trucks - 379 Peterbilts & Volvos with Double Sleeper Cab We pay "Lumper" Services
  • Safety Bonus - June 1st - November 30th / December 1st - May 31st 2% of gross earnings
  • Driver Pass/Program - Allows one family member to ride along per Quarter after probation period.
  • Paid Holidays - After one year receive $75.00 for six paid holidays a year
  • Vacation Pay - One (1) week paid after first (1st) year Two (2) weeks paid after second (2nd) year Three (3) weeks paid after fifth (5th) year Four (4) weeks paid after tenth (10th) year

Owner Operators

Hoffman Transport, Inc. is constantly seeking the best owner/operators to join our growing team of professionals. If you are interested in leasing to HTI, please contact the Recruiting Department at 800-726-6111 or e-mail recruiting@hoffmantransport.com.

Owner Operators are paid 65% of the gross linehaul revenue on all shipments. All accessorial charges such as detention, driver assist etc. will be passed on the Owner/Operator at 65% of the revenue.

Escrow
The amount of $2500 will be held in an escrow account for the duration of the lease. The escrow monies are used and applied to preventable accident and cargo claims, etc.

Fuel Advances and Transactions
E. F. S. checks are available to owner/operators for purchasing fuel and emergency roadside repairs. On the E. F. S. system, drivers may receive up to 30% of the truck’s gross revenue per trip. If an owner/operator requires an additional cash advance for a fine or mechanical defect (and an advance is issued), then a surcharge will be assessed.

Fuel Tax Reporting
Fuel tax reporting by HTI is available upon request of the Owner/Operator. There is a nominal fee charged for this service per week and the Owner Operator is then included in the fleet reporting of Fuel Tax. The fuel taxes will be deducted on a quarterly basis. A fuel and mileage report recapping the total amount owed on a monthly basis will be sent to each Owner/Operator. The Owner/Operator should attempt to purchase fuel in the states that have an open balance to avoid paying fuel tax at the end of each quarter.

Required Equipment
Each owner Operator is required to have load locks, a thermometer. Cell Phone or Satellite Communication.

Mechanics

Mason Dixon Repair and Services is searching for qualified diesel mechanics that satisfy the requirements listed below. We offer one of the outstanding wage and benefit package in the area.   • Class "A" diesel mechanic.
  • 5 plus years in the tractor/trailer trade.
  • Prefer reefer experience with freon endorsement.
  • Caterpillar experience a plus.
  • Must have own hand tools.
  • CDL drivers license.
  • State Inspection qualified, Pennsylvania preferred.
  • Freon endorsement – welding or any other endorsements a plus.
